Elizabeth House: St. Joseph's has served a meal for those experiencing homelessness/hunger at Elizabeth House in Laurel for more than 20 years. We are now looking for new assistants, as several of our fabulous workers retired after many years of service. We serve takeout meals on the second Tuesday of each month from 5:45-8PM. The meals are prepared by a cooking crew and are all ready for us to distribute when we arrive at 5:45. We serve about 90 meals through a takeout window situated on the front porch. We would love to have parishioners help distribute these meals once a month or even every other month. If you can help on any of the upcoming dates, please call Eileen Kirk at 301-937-1396. Our upcoming dates are Tuesdays (the second Tuesday of each month): September 12, October 10, November 14, and December 12. Elizabeth House is located at 308 Gorman Avenue in Laurel. This is Route 198 East from 95 headed north using the Laurel exit. It is about a 15 minute ride from our church. There is ample parking in the back of the house. Please join us, as we enjoy each other's company, while being helpful to those Jesus calls us to support.
Assisi House benefits immigrants in Baltimore. Many are newly arrived and just have the clothes in which they arrived. This outreach is sponsored by Sacred Heart and St Patrick’s Church in Baltimore. Assisi House is always in need of new/gently used casual clothes, especially S, M for adults and all sizes for babies and children. Right now, the director, Sr Michele Reed says they are in need of sheets/blankets and new/gently used toys/stuffed animals/dolls. Please mark donations “Assisi House” and leave in our church pantry.
